Help strengthen sustainability and resilience for a balanced tourism recovery
The Mekong Innovations in Sustainable Tourism program is seeking innovative initiatives and projects from anybody, including from students, startups, social enterprises, SMEs, corporates to governments – with the goal to strengthen sustainability and resilience in travel and tourism in the member countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
MIST is open to any organization from individuals to corporations, small- and medium-sized enterprises, NGOs, academia, and government agencies



WHICH PROJECT CAN BE SUBMITTED?
We accept any project that can drive sustainability and resilience in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The initiatives can be concepts minimum viable products, existing projects, ventures, or operating businesses.

DOES IT MATTER HOW OLD THE INITIATIVE IS?
Any initiative regardless of age can be submitted to MIST. Are you a company that promotes sustainability in the region for 30 years or a student group who came up with a great concept for tourism recovery yesterday – all can be nominated.



DOES IT MATTER WHERE THE ORGANISATION IS LOCATED?
MIST accepts nominations from member countries of the Mekong Region – Cambodia, PR China (Guangxi and Yunnan provinces), Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam – as well as from all over the world, if the nominated initiative is applicable to the Mekong Region.

WHICH GOALS DOES MIST SUPPORT?
Participating initiatives have to showcase what they want to achieve and how it helps to build sustainability in the region, for example by promoting equal employment, promoting environmental friendly behavior, or creating opportunities for underdeveloped communities. The project must promote at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SGDs)



WHAT IMPACT DOES THE INITIATIVE MAKE?
MIST is open for any nominations that drive impact from energy reduction in hotels, local empowerment, solutions to over-tourism, regional connectivity, to assisting businesses during COVID-19, and anything else that drives sustainability and resilience for a balanced tourism recovery.
